The Philippines can either make-or-break my proposed maritime containment strategy for China. Therefore, the Philippines can either totally align with the United States as it did during the Cold War or it will have to be Finlandized to prevent it from becoming a conduit for Chinese influence.

“America’s allies must do what they can, when they can, against whomever they perceive as a threat. The United States will always have their backs; we will gladly provide intelligence and logistical support to these states.”
The Trump Administration needs to decide if it is going to contain Iran or engage. If it decides to engage Iran, it will set the tables for the Islamic Republic’s ascent into the nuclear club which, in turn, will spark a nuclear arms race in the Mideast, and potentially destabilize the entire world system.
