China’s Space Dream is America’s Nightmare
The Chinese have a plan for global domination. Space plays a key role in their ambitions. Not only do they hope to become the seat of technological innovation and advancement, but Beijing also dreams of knocking the US from its dominant position in orbit by targeting US satellite constellations and by becoming the premiere power exploiting the natural resources of space.
Not Your Father’s Disruption
In quantum computing, biotech, and space mining the United States is competing for dominance with China…and the U.S. is losing. Innovation and disruption go hand-in-hand whichever side embraces this first will win the 100-Year Marathon.
Shadow Wars For Me, But Not For Thee
The United States won the West, specifically California, with an early form of what Sean McFate would refer to as “shadow warfare.” Putin did something similar in Crimea in 2014. Rather than decry it impotently, the United States should wage its own shadow war in defense of its allies (until Washington and Moscow can actually create a workable peace deal between themselves, that is).
What Is Russia Doing?
Russia has behaved boldly on the world stage under Putin. Now, I believe they are targeting Western communication linkages in space and undersea in order to render the US deaf, dumb, blind all to achieve their geopolitical goals of reclaiming a safe space buffering their borders from Europe.
Pushing the Philippines
The Philippines can either make-or-break my proposed maritime containment strategy for China. Therefore, the Philippines can either totally align with the United States as it did during the Cold War or it will have to be Finlandized to prevent it from becoming a conduit for Chinese influence.
Ignoring Iran Will Not Help
As Iran extends its reach in the region, the United States and its allies push back against it. This has forced Iran to get bolder in their attacks against the U.S. and its allies. Oddly enough, there are quarters in the West that seek to accommodate Iran while abandoning Israel and Saudi Arabia. This will weaken the U.S. and empower Russia and China.
Tanker War 2.0 Is Definitely Here
“The new Tanker War, then, is just the beginning. At the same time, unless Saudi Arabia and the Israelis are willing to take the point in this new campaign against Iran, the United States will have to fight the Tanker War 2.0 tit-for-tat, just as the Iranians are. We must never forget that the Iranians will not abandon their quest for nuclear arms and we in the West simply cannot allow for them to acquire these nuclear capabilities. Therefore, one can anticipate the global price of oil to continue to increase–despite what many of the so-called “experts” claim. This will mean that Russia will become more belligerent over time with the West. Ultimately, though, the United States must do what it can–along with its regional allies–to deny Iran the potential to use nuclear arms against U.S. allies, such as Iran and the Sunni Arab states.”
The Wrong Stuff: U.S. Space Policy
The president’s recent tweet undercutting his administration’s moon-Mars plan underscores a terrible misconception about space policy on the president’s part. It’s not just about taking a pretty picture on the Red Planet. It’s about taking territory before our rivals can. Therefore, taking the moon first and then pushing on to Mars is the only way to get Americans in space permanently.
Much More Than a Trade War with China
The Chinese are a great people with a rich history. They have known general dominance throughout their 4,000-year history. What’s more, as Deng Xiaoping said when the Soviet Union collapsed, China has been engaged in a second Cold War with the United States. They’ve been winning—and they will continue to do so unless we do more than what we’ve been doing to counter them.
